Jennifer Gann Legal Defense
On November 6, 2012, California voters passed Proposition 36, the Three Strikes Reform Act, which limits the laws application to fewer people, and allows for sentence reductions of some prisoners who were unjustly given life terms.
I, Jennifer Gann, have become eligible to have my life sentence reduced under the recently reformed "three strikes" law. As a trans-prisoner political activist who has spent the past 23 years in California state prison under some of the worst conditions, I urgently request your support.
Please write letters protesting the injustice of my life sentences for "non-serious" felony convictions - "possession of a sharp instrument"

and "battery", which normally carry maximum penalties of 3 and 6 years respectively. It should also be noted that as a trans-woman sex abuse survivor, yoga student, and LGBTQ community organizer that supports human rights, I do not pose an "unreasonable risk of danger to public safety." My past history and behavior in prison show that I have had to struggle against guard brutality, homophobic violence, and sex abuse.
Please send letters of support and voluntary financial donations earmarked for "Jennifer Gann Legal Defense" to: Amanda Benson, Assistant Public Defender, 700 H St., Ste. 0270, Sacramento, CA 95814 or call (916)874-6411 to ask how you can help.
Thank you!
