books, his autobiography coming from Cuba into prison- DEPATRIADO, MAN
WITHOUT COUNTRY and ABNORAML FOOTPRINTS, both books containing free poetry
and experiences with the prison subculture. Those books have been publi-

PENITENTIARY BUTTERFLY*

With broken wings
struggling to fly
the lady landed.

Between the fences
winds pushed a
black butterfly.

She dies with me,
where cold cells
are trapping me.

Who knows, her
travels and destination
was here?.

The soul,
heart and pain,
God touched the prison.

It is nature's message
using the
black butterfly.

Counting my tears,
with suffocating chains
I live for today.
