A BRIEF HISTORY OF SHIRLEYWORLD - The Madness Journals
Chapter XXVII

I'd love to be able to report that there has been some type of reduction in the foolishness here since I last reported activity, but unfortunately (and quite tragically to public safety) there has not. One of the biggest and most glaring examples over the past couple of weeks was the "Parade of Fools" which ran through the blocks the other day. We had Captain Sherbert, Captain Cowardly, Captain Kant-Find-A-Way, and Lt. Urine (formerly Lt. Whirlwind but now Lt. Urine by popular demand). This crew, that you are paying over $350,000.00 per year, went through each and every unit seizing water bottles, trash bags (they want us to use an unlined trash can like some sort of animal), and clothing hooks (handmade) as they expect two (2) men living in a one (1) man cell to share the existing two (2) state hooks to hang their coats, towels, and facecloths. Again they think we are animals and that we should be stripped of all human dignity. Now they could care less that the unit does not have the proper, legally mandated cleaning solutions (this endangers the public as we have had MRSA outbreaks - which the guards and support employees bring to the street - as well as legionnaire's disease here at MCI Shirley, or that there are numerous men on the unit(s) who require real reentry services. All they care about is causing discord misery. Now many may think this is hyperbole but trust me, it is not. This truth is evidenced by the looks of anger and disgust on their faces, especially Lt. Urine and Captain Sherbert, as they seize water bottles. You can see that they hate prisoners and these are the folks that are in charge of "care", custody and control. Dr. Mengele is in charge of our health care: that is how we see it. You folks on the street may think the guards in here are preventing escapes, ferreting out weapons and combating drug smuggling, but the fact is that they are water bottle detectives stealing directly out of your pocket with tragic results. They create our 47% recidivism rate and place your life in danger on the streets.

The men in the CRA block have asked Sgt. Young-un (he is so short he oftentimes gets mistaken for a lost kindergarten student) for the proper chemicals in their block so they can clean the showers. They did it in a respectful manner, they did not even ask him to "stand up when you talk to me" as it appears he is sitting down when he is talking. This Napoleonic tyrant just brushed them off and the showers began to stink and be covered with black mold. Finally, after weeks of seeking the proper LEGALLY MANDATED cleaning supplies, one prisoner had had enough and grabbed the microphone and yelled that they needed the cleaning supplies while Sgt. Young-Un was on the block. The results were that this brazen and fed up prisoner was lugged to the box, but that was not enough. To quell any other men on any other units from seeking the proper cleaning chemicals the "goon squad" assembled - led by a host of high paid Lts, Capts, and Sgts, and tore the block apart going from cell to cell destroying the few possessions men might have. Now, this CRA block in the drug addiction recovery unit where men are seeking to address their addiction issues. One of the core aspects of such life change is to take personal responsibility: to seek what is right and just in life. The men in this unit tried to get the proper cleaning supplied in the proper manner, but these defective correctional fools laughed them off and forced them to take drastic measures. Then taught them that if you seek humanity, if you seek what is right, this system will punish you. There is no right or wrong in corrections, there is only WRONG, and this system further alienates these young men, creating that insurmountable barrier that breeds crime and violence. The public cannot see this as it can only be viewed from behind the razor wire. Former NYC Police Commander and Riker's Island Warden Bernie Keric recently did a stretch in the federal prison system and is now on a national tour toting how he was WRONG all these years about crime and punishment and just how broken and flawed our prison system is. He clearly details how counter-productive the system is: it is a jobs program for layabouts and is a blood sucking leech upon the taxpayer. Mr. Keric states just what I have been blogging about for some time now: we need a complete overhaul of the system.

Here is another example of just how angry and abusive these high ranking administrators are. The other morning some of us gathered in the Chapel here to pray for the 24 anniversary of the death of a man's beloved father. One of our friends had made some coffee for us and we had just sat down to discuss what method of prayer we would use to pray for this man's deceased dad when Captain Sherbert and Lt. Urine looked through the window. They immediately went to the guard who works in building where the Chapel is housed and screamed at him (he even said to me later "they need to try decaf") as to what we were doing in there and that we better get "back to work", as for some reason they thought we worked for that guard: we did not. They are so blind to their real duties that they did not even realize that this was "Eucharistic Adoration" time for us Catholics there in the Chapel and that we all were rightfully in there preparing to pray, but all they saw was some less-than-human cons drinking coffee and it sparks in them a deep rooted hatred response (for some reason, abuse, rape, abandonment, unresolved emotional or mental health issues, etc., they hate themselves) which is misplaced upon us as it is surely internal. They cannot accept that men can change because if they did, it would mean that they are people who keep good men in cages like animals. These jailers know they are hurting society, they know they are the dregs and scum Mark Twain wrote of, and they have to demonize us in order to attempt to lift themselves up. This is why they have the highest suicide, divorce and domestic violence rates in law enforcement (believe they are NOT law enforcement - they are law breakers). They hate themselves and society suffers. They pollute the system with their barren souls and diminished capacities.

There were a couple of really cold days last week. The 3-11 shift guards in the chowhall wired the exit door open. Now, this door is right near several tables where men eat. Some of the men asked for the door to be closed, as it was pretty unbearable in there, but the guards refused. Now, there is no reason for this door to be open. The reason the guards wired it open was so that they could freeze men out. This freezing out theory is based on a principle that if you make it uncomfortable for men in the chowhall the men will leave sooner: and therefore the cops will not have to stand up so long. Please understand that the hardest work these unbelievably well paid guards do all day is standing up: and they bitch till the cows come home not to have to do it. They do all within their power to not have to "post up" (this is the corrections term for manning a post - which basically means "standing up"). Numerous complaints are made to the union about having to stand up for too long. They want to stay home and get paid: that is the ultimate goal, and it is a sight for us to watch each and every day. The cop on the podium slumped down out of camera view, snoring away last night's whiskey indulgence. Two sergeants and a line guard sound asleep in the office of the school building while they close the building due to their made up mantra of "understaffing". A female guard (who is married) caught having sex with a male guard (who is also married - and not to each other) in the office of the gym by the captain. The gym was closed at the time due to "understaffing". This is ShirleyWorld. This is your tax dollars at work! Where is the outrage???

I had a medical appointment the other day. As I sat up there in the hospital I had to watch as they totally disrespected a man named Frank who has late stage dementia. Frank was wandering around and cops and nurses were laughing at his being lost. One cop said: we should put a cow bell on him so we know where he is. One nurse said that they could "swaddle" him in sheets like a baby so that he could not get out of bed. They were yelling to him: turn right, Frank, no, your other right, and howling out loud at what they felt was a real joke - THEY ARE THE JOKE - THE BASTARDS! Why is this guy in prison when he does not even KNOW he is in prison? What purpose does this serve other than to assure jobs for guards and administrators! It will give you a deeper perspective on the issue, but please know that TORTURE does exist in the Massachusetts prison system. Men are held in these hospital units and used for the personal sadistic entertainment of staff. It is appalling and needs to be addressed.

I had an incident happen with one of the biggest fools here this week and had to take some action. I was "interviewed" about the situation but gave my word I would not blog about the details until I got the investigation results.
