Dear God: I Forgot To Be Your Lover

If they ask me the name of the songs that the choir sang - I could remember. If they asked all the words to each hymn, I could remember.

If they ask me the scripture and topic of the sermon, I could remember.

But silly me, foolish me
I forgot to be your lover!

If ask me to testify about the goodness of God's love, I could remember. If they asked me to share the annual church calendar, and weekly activities, I could remember. When they say it's First Sunday, wear all white, I would remember.

What was I thinking?

Oh my Lord, Jesus, please forgive me, I forgot to be your lover.

So much time wasted.

I remember the bag without the stems and seeds, I remember suicide attempts, and loneliness, without you I would not have ever survived. I should have kept you first.

How foolish could I be
Lord, I forgot to be your lover.

Now I realize what I mean to you and what you really want is the love you gave, and give, to be returned to you. I'll spend the rest of my life tryin' to make it up to you, Lord.

How could I forget to be your lover.

So many words.

Though I made every service on time, gave my money, and sacrificed for the ministry; I even cooked in the kitchen, and fed the homeless.

My God, my God, how silly
Could I be, foolish me
I forgot to be your lover.

So many games.

With the list of all the things I have done in your name, all that I intended for your glory, the efforts that I accomplished through you, Lord.

How sad it would be to get to heaven's gate and you remind me of the whole point and say: "With all the work that you've done, X-Ray, silly silly X-ray,

You forgot to be
My lover."

Philippians 3:10

Have you forgotten that more than anything, the "Creator" wants us to be lovers to him and to one another? Have you forgotten?

Silly me. Before NOW...
