SOMETHING NEW

I started out with my own lane
Focused on doing my own thang
Doing what I understood, my own man
Serious developing, the X-Ray Brand

I did my best to stay true
True to me to the bone
I had half a million fans
But I was still alone

My dealings
Had no room for feelings
The process of my get-down
Crushed the competition by the pound

But here I am today, in this prison class
Slowed down so much my life
That only my thoughts are free to live fast

One or two homies I try to call friends
But step-by-step, day-by-day
I know it all depends

The royalty of my loyalty
Can cost to be the boss
So I calculate each step
And listen to the holy ghost rep

I have to trust my own soul to guide me through
Because the more I look around me
I know I need to do—something new
