Howdy! I hope you all are well and happy!

Well, the big news is my friend "Dawn" finally got out of the Hole after almost four months. I think "she" went in around July 24 and got out yesterday. Note: Dawn is a gay white male. We often refer to each other with feminine pronouns. It's a cultural thing.

Anyway, as a reminder, Dawn was forced to take a blood test to see if she tested positive for some of the pain meds which they give out at pill line. A bunch of guys were caught up in that, both were buying and selling.

Okay, here's the ironic (?) part of all this: even though Dawn was found guilty, she never received any Hole time as a sanction. Her Hole time was put on the shelf on suspended, pending good conduct. First, Dawn was under investigation for 2 1/2 months or so, even though she had tested positive from the start. Then, after they finally gave her the "shot" (incident report), it took another month before she finally went to her hearing. So all that time was for nothing. Plus, if she had gotten sanctioned with any Hole time, none of that prior time there would have counted toward it. Fair, right? Not!

Anyway, Dawn is back and was put in my unit. I am glad she's out and I did miss her, but I also don't mind that she's only got two months left on her sentence. Dawn seems to think that a large list of guys on this compound belong to her exclusively. It's a bit much. Plus, she uses people. She's got two different guys sending her money every month, both of whom believe she's going to live with them after she gets out. It's not something I would do. And God forbid I should have something she doesn't! Well, don't think it's all bad. She has made me laugh more than anyone, and it's so nice having someone I can talk to who's gay.

I am so pissed. I got a notice today that the two magazines I receive, Vanity Fair and Interview, were both rejected because of nudity. This is Vanity Fair we're talking about! It's a classy magazine, it's not pornographic at all. I'm filing a complaint.

I may not have mentioned, but they cut down one tree so far and put concrete over the spot it was located, and they're due to cut down more. This is all to make way for the cameras that the delusional captain is putting in. He's also supposed to be putting bars on all the windows, including the big picture windows all around the chow hall. It's fucking absurd. Plus, they's spending hundreds of thousands of dollars during a very bad time economically for stuff that is completely unnecessary.

The days are getting colder. Oh, I just remembered—they're also closing the Rec yard now at 6:30 PM since it gets darker earlier. Last year and all previous years, they kept it open until recall at 8:00 PM, but I have no doubt that this new development is also due to this new captain. Ridiculous.
