Love really is the drug of choice for many of us. Too bad we won't just accept that we are (some of us) helpless in every effort to act, pretend, and insist that somehow we can, could, willingly live without love and all that it produces.

Who do you think we are?

So many of us deserve to know love, more than anything. We go through each day knowing how love is absent or lacking our lives. We are, I am, some of us, exist in a constant response to love's beacon, and we are chased by shadows of a past that catches up with us regularly just to bring us empty reflections. And so, we pursue love. We are in pursuit of a love that stands infinitively tall, alone-ful, grand-ridiculous, and thank God, unconditional. It is not love that has conditions. It is our choice in relationships that give room and lease space to conditional love, which is love's greatest impostor.

We, I, and you must remember constantly that love is not the secure identity of a feeling. AHD love is also not those poetic descriptions that we hear so often that overflow with inaccurate and random declarations of ecstasy. And of course, we understand that love is not the clinging thing, the longing, to be with another that we pedestal as "the one we love." This is not the character of love. Not in its original state.

If we would pause most still for an eternal moment in the mirror and look at the work of the Creator reflecting back, we would recognize a power source that is irresistible, humbling, and canyon-wide in submission to opportunities to reveal grace. It is this love that cannot be mistaken for anything else. For the goal of love is to express over and over again in you and I, in all of our lives, world, relationships, and affairs. And love is this way through a profound unselfishness that transcends and transmutes all that challenges "light". Light, bright, and love that it is persistently demonstrates and manifests the thing we call "a more excellent way".

It is a requirement that is contracted difficult, but we, I must be available to allow love without restriction to calibrate our awareness and remain at an open level through us. We must stop pretending to care and pretending to honor the sacredness that is love that we must share and express with and towards each other. We must reject the lie of aloneness, others in needy search of expressing the ultimate drug. With or without our permission, love will continue to send us to places so that we can set the bound-up free and break the invisible locks that chain us down. If we choose to trust, love will carry us forward towards the inner source where thinking is fresh, original, and uplifting. So uplifting that we, you, and I, rise with new thoughts, deeper understandings, and we may even hear the reflection in the mirror ask...

Who do we think we are?

P.S. Who do we think we are that we would believe inside us the able power to bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, endure all things? Who do we think we are? To believe that we could love.
