An Ocean of Need
2-20-14
The scope and scale of the problems faced by people across the world can leave me very overwhelmed; especially when the images are broadcasted on our television screen.

What I could give, even if I were to sell all I posses and give it to the poor, would only be a drop in an ocean of need. But it's the thought and effort that counts, right?

Each day hundreds of organizations send mail & e-mails to government funding programs, each striving to chip away at various human problems which include: hunger, shelter, poverty, abuse, diease, and our latest, soldiers neglected after coming home from war. (Thank you for your sacrifice!)

The frustration & futility I feel at not being able to contribute to each one of these causes, has me searching for a different way to help people in need right here in prison.

What seemingly little I can do in here to help out my fellow man, I now do. My prayer is that with all of us giving what we can, the tide of generosity and love will soon start overwhelming the ocean of need. That will be the ultimate reward for all of us. When I was a criminal I used to take; now I'm a disciple of God and I give!
