Black & Pink
California Prison Chapter

Black & Pink California Prison Chapter was started in October 2013 by incarcerated Leadership Circle member, Jennifer, and her friend Jazzie, both of whom are trans-women currently confined at Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP) men's facility. We work to build support and solidarity amongst LGBTQ prisoners and "free world" allies in California.

Current projects of our Black & Pink Chapter include:
1. Advocacy Campaign for Trans-women (ACT!). We are filing "602" administrative appeals and citizens' complaints concerning gender discrimination, sexual abuse, ad deliberate indifference to our personal safety/medical needs, etc.
2. Establishing chapter coordinators at each prion facility within the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR). They will hold meetings on the yard whenever possible.

(P. 2)

We are accountable to see that members and activities follow the Black & Pink Purpose and Analysis. We are radical feminists. We are anti-imperialists and anti-racist. We want queer liberation. We are against capitalism. And we are against patriarchy. Prisons are part of the system that oppresses and divides us. By building a movement and taking action against this system of violence, we will create the world we dream of. Abolition is our goal and our strategy for action. We want revolution! And we will work on reforms too, even if they are only small steps toward harm-reduction, we want to end the suffering caused by prisons.

- Jennifer, B&P California Prison Chapter Leader
