To Nicki,
Here's a related poem you might like. It's based somewhat on Roger McGough's Hoarding. I just updated it.

A HORDE OF HOARDERS

all too busy being boarded

thousands of them fancy
any shiny item looking
like its dancing
round and round the items go

all too busy being boarded
on the American merry-go-round

anyone without old lady
left to devise a new way
shady
just one chance in the place

all too busy being boarded
on the American merry-go-round
hoarding hoarding hoarding

guy in second hand sneakers
tries to clean them nicely
dips his index in the paint
does it over like the others

all too busy being boarded
on the American merry-go-round
hoarding hoarding hoarding
there's just nothing better to be found

------

Hope you enjoyed that. This is its first and only draft. I just typed it as it came out of my head. And while I know secondhand is one word, the separation speaks to me for some reason. I enjoy the poetic license of working outside the confines of general grammar and beyond the severity of prose.

Thank you for reading.
Johnny
