Hello World...
I'd like to start this blog by stating this: Life is so impermanent. When others need help, do not hesitate, do not waste time...just help!
My topic today deals with inadequate "mental health" treatment within California's "Fortress of Fear". I once read that it was once said that "the most dangerous creation of any society is that man (or woman) who has nothing to lose." [Quote by: James Baldwin] Ergo, what the people of the state of California need to take a good hard look at is the public health issue manifesting within its prisons. This is caused by the dehumanizing disregard that extends to the physical and mental health to every man, woman, and juvenile offender who are imprisoned within California's Prison Industrial Complex.
It is no secret that the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation ("CDCR")has, and continues to have, recurring problems with health care delivery and services in their 34 prisons. These issues have worsened and are exacerbated under conditions of "mass incarceration", overcrowding, and illogical "industrial management rationale." With my prior background in the medical industry, I have long noticed the prevalent application of "psychotropic drugs" as the sole source of treatment for mentally disabled prisoners, with no other professional psychological counseling to address any consequential depression. Drugs fill the gaps within California's "House of Pain." Although over the past few years, the treatment provided to mentally ill prisoners within the CDCR has slightly improved, for many other reasons it still falls short of providing the range and quality of treatment opportunities that I believe would really reduce California's recidivism (which is the highest rate in the U.S.) and lower the crime rates in society. The only way to fix this problem would be through a complete, comprehensive, and genuine correctional reform of the CDCR by an outside federal judiciary.
What people in society seem to truly misunderstand is the "concept" of what it means "to do time", so to simply ignore and forget this inhumanity only dooms all of us ["all of us" underlined] of being a victim to this system.
