OUR CHILDREN; GOD'S GIFT September 26, 2014
Children are a gift, not a possession. They are people, not things. Obedience must be taught and expected in a spirit of love. God gives us children as a blessing, a sacred trust, a responsibility. They are not ours to use for our own selfish ends.
Some people see children as a way to get position, power, wealth, or fame. Or they view the child as a servant, demanding them to do whatever they ask.
Others want children to continue their family name and traditions after their death. But children are bundles of joy, sent to love us and to be loved by us.
They teach us patience, love, and self-giving.
They remind us of God, and help us to become more like God in our actions and thought. Parental love needs to be both seen and heard. But being incarcerated prevents the seeing aspect so all my parental skills are only heard.
I continuously express to my children how much I regret not being a daily figure in their lives. Their comeback is always the same, "Dad don't worry about that, we love you regardless." What a reflection of God's own heart. That statement is proof that our children are truly a gift from God.

It's good you keep in touch with your kids through letters, it's like you work away in another country and can't see them much.
