Cupped Darkness

"Cupped Darkness"

A tear
rushed out of my eye
And was caught
by the cup of your hands
Molding itself into each line,
each crevice,
and quivered.
Your hands were shaking
The shame caused fear
to make you tremble
As my tears showed a side of me
you'd never seen
The tear you held spoke of sadness
Each shiver sent chills to your heart
A heart
who can't understand
why tears fall.
Why the tear cradled inside your hands
chose to escape
Why it was caught
Or why your eyes contemplate
its transparent hue
Let that tear wax
and become a candle
inside your hands
So that it can be ignited
by the fire
inside my heart.
And maybe...
...that candle...
will one day bring light
to the darkness you've caused.
The darkness you now contemplate
That darkness cupped
inside your hands.
