Re: Ad-Seg. Conditions:

I've been in administrative segregation over a year now. I have seen some conditions in not just this ad-seg. but in every ad-seg. I've been in.
The (ASU) administrative segregation unit is designed to segregate prisoners from the general population.
It is a more less short term place, nothing like the (SHU) security housing units. But the conditions are probably worse than the SHU.
There in the SHU we dealt with many inconveniences. Which were the result from prison staff's actions. And of course, the long isolation many of us endured.
I was released from one segregation into another. Only this segregation has been deteriorating. The cells flood when it rains. The sinks and toilets were leaking. They issued out jackets when it was cold and raining. But the jackets were worn by everyone. They refuse to give us our own jackets. Many of us would not wear the jackets no matter how cold it was or how hard it rained outside. And we were freezing. For three hours we had to deal with that every other day.
I have begun the process of exposing these conditions before the courts along with many more conditions. And I hope to teach the other inmates how to challenge their conditions.
