The guard screwed up big time in their attempt to grin up a handicapped prisoner (Prisoner X) who is bedridden due to a spinal injury caused during an altercation with the guards some years ago. Prisoner X is currently engaged in a civil suit against the guards and the prison.
Prisoner X has been butting heads with the guards for some time now. The administration has mounted a camera on his cell door to watch him all day, and he's constantly filing complaints about something. When the guards enter his cell to give him medication or feed him, they video the exchange.
On 5/9 at 7 am, a lieutenant (Lt.) noticed that Prisoner X had unauthorized property in his cell while on disciplinary status, so he ordered a group of guards to shake him down and take his property. Three or four guards entered his cell, stripped him out, compelled him to assume painful positions, then handcuffed him. I could hear him scream out in pain. Afterwards, they left his cell with boxes of law books.
Come shift change (at 2 pm), the guards noticed that they were missing a pair of handcuffs and began a search of the block. The captain and shift commander were called and guards from security to help with the search. They tore up the block for almost an hour and recalled the guards that left early. Still no luck. Their next step was to shake down the prisoners, but before that call was made someone thought to check Prisoner X where they discovered the missing handcuffs. Prisoner X had been trapped in his bunk all this time with handcuffs on. They were hopping mad, especially because it had been documented on video.
So now they are taking their anger out on us because they can't do anything to Prisoner X. They've foolishly given him more ammunition for his his lawsuit, proving that they have been harassing him. Oops!
