Thank you for your comment. I'm glad to hear that there are people like yourself who see the problems with our justice system. Recently I saw a 60 Minutes episode on the prison system in either Germany or Norway—I forget, but it was impressive. They focus on humane treatment and getting inmates (they call them "residents") ready for successful reentry into society. There is far less violence in their prisons, they have a lower recidivism rate, and they have less overall crime. All this and they even spend less money to get these better results.

There are also worse systems than ours, but we claim to be the world's leaders, to be human rights champions, so it would be nice if our justice system reflected those claims.

Thanks again for you comment. I'll be leaving prison in September after 13 years. I was lucky enough to have a lot of family support and was able to use my time here to address the issues I struggled with (addiction, childhood trauma, mental health). I look forward to the challenge of leading a healthy, successful life. Feel free to leave more comments and take care. (:
