The List

The List

An X over my name
Categorized as a threat
As an individual
Who knows no respect
Only trouble, threats

They are blind to my struggle
So my tattoos scream
My eyes bleed
My tears scream for peace
But find emptiness

Blood drips from the eyes of a prisoner
Not just any prisoner though
A prisoner of war
The war against the black
The war against the brown

The war against the grades
Of an 8 year old child
A child who finds it hard to read
So he stares out the window instead
Entranced by the world out there

Bling flashes
Cash looks attractive
His knuckles rap against the dusk
Rhymes form
Poetry flows

And for this he is scolded
Sent to the principal's office
His mind shuts down
He gives up on learning
Another name is added to the list!

A list
Filled a long time before
So society votes
Society
Needs another prison built
