Hip Replacement
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I finally got my hip replacement operation on October 2, 2017. :) They cut off the end of my leg bone and replaced it with a titanium one, and also rebuilt my severely damaged hip socket with bone and metal. The surgeon said it looked pretty bad. I may have been like for over six years. It's been over nine weeks since I had the hip operation and I'm also normal with the hip. I had forty staples put in. Lucky the scar is thin. :)
I still have to walk with a cane or other support because of my nerve damage (three back surgeries) that cause me to lose all my left quadriceps muscles and half of my calf muscle. My knee is very weak and gives out all the time. Also I always have severe pain in my lower back (pinched nerves) and left knee. When I walk, I have more pain still in my left knee because of the weakness. The doctors here don't care and make me suffer in pain, and give me very little pain medicine. I can't sleep at night because of the pain, I have it 24/7, 8-10 pain level all the time.
I was in the hospital for four days after the surgery, then sent to Corcoran State Prison Hospital for eight weeks of rehab and P.T. Charles Manson was in the same hospital four rooms down from me. Then they sent me back to my prison on December 28. My prison is a four and a half hour drive north of Corcoran. I am now going to have three more weeks of P.T., and I'm supposed to have a walker. But I think a walker makes me weaker, so I stick with the cane.
