Nurse To Be Retried In Death of Prisoner

On January 22, 2018, a mistrial was declared when a George County, Mississippi jury was unable to reach a verdict in the manslaughter trial of a former correctional facility nurse.

The nurse was charged in the death of the prisoner after allegedly refusing to give the prisoner vital prescribed medication.

When a mistrial was declared, the District Attorney vowed that there will be a retrial.

Kudos to Tony Lawrence, the District Attorney of Mississippi's 19th Circuit Court District, for his willingness to call the nurse's actions exactly what they were—manslaughter—and for seeking justice for ALL—even if the victim is a prisoner.
