Our Veteran Program, "GrahamVets", is making history again within IDOC.

One week ago, July 6, the Warden (A/W Operations/Security), Placement and the Administration authorized the vets to have new job positions created. We were given a section of garden, about 100' x 50' to grow a vegetable and fruit garden maintained by the vets. It will allow us to work with the garden crew (other inmates) to provide produce to the local food pantry.

*

Our vets get to "give back" to the community, work outside in a productive fashion and it provides the beginning of using gardening as a form of therapy.

*

We also are augmenting the grounds crew by weeding and maintaining the Flower beds. Again, therapy and giving back.

*

Of course there is some friction as expected in prison, but as vets we will prove by our actions what hard work and attention to detail and respect mean to Americans.

Thanks.
