Subject: Vandalia veteran group
Thank God for IDOC staff and Wardens that care and make an effort toward rehabilitation. In the last week VCC has begun a veteran help group and eventually a vet housing unit there. They will use the GrahamVet model and Charter to kick it off. I was able to speak with their Coordination briefly. As a Navy vet, he said it concerned him to see so many young veterans now entering his prison. Most are Iraq and Afghan vets that spiralled down. Self medication, PTS and TBI issues.

It feels good to be involved in something that has helped so many. We must not stop! We cannot afford to fail! More people must get involved to support incarcerated veteran programs.
