Dear Nicki,

Your words of comfort could not have come at a better time, the things that you said really did brighten my day; and, it was bad here that day too: two vicious stabbings had occurred in here shortly before I received your comment in the mail.

Every time a body gets carried out, covered in blood like that, with its crimson trail painting the sidewalk from the building they were in -- all the way to Medical -- where a nurse tries to keep them alive until an ambulance (or helicopter; depending on severity) arrives: I get a little existential, and think about how, at any moment, it could be me, or anyone around me, next.

But, things are improving in my life.

Jaime Beth did contact me ... she wrote me a nice "friend zone" letter on August 12th, and gave me her new number for me to call. We talked. A lot! And, with each new conversation, grew closer and closer -- discovering that NOTHING between us has changed, except Time and distance. We've shared lots of tears, tender confessions of missing each other, and impassioned promises of our future. She's even admitted to leaving comments on this blog, under the usename: mofert.

With mofert's comments dating back quite a while! Today is my birthday, and looking back at last year's post -- and the only person in the world to remember me enough that day? -- it was her, Mrs. Jaime "mofert" Mahaffey. She's been with me all this time. She said, that she couldn't bring herself to outright contact me, and she was afraid to say too much, because I'd figure her out and call her out on it. But, my god, I wish she had...

We now talk EVERY day. Sometimes up to four phone calls every day, and a letter ... every day, and I'm not talking friend zone, these are wife letters. I did, at one point, write her some "friend zone" letters, and they did NOT go over well. She said, she is NOT just a friend, she is not a "baby momma", nor is she a side-piece, or any of that: she is THE WIFE! And I'm not to call her anything else, ever again.

I love it.

Thank you Nicki, for your kind words of support. You are a very special woman yourself, and I have no doubt that love will find you.
