Dear aphid765@gmail.com
Judging by the DOC (Department of Corrections) number, which started with a single "V", you're trying to find someone who entered the California Department of Corrections (CDC), now the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) shortly before June of 2004. If so, then you can find him quite easily, simply by visiting the official CDCR website, which should be something like www.cdcr.ca.gov. If you're not looking for someone in a CDCR facility, if you're looking for someone incarcerated in a prison in another state, or another reader would like to know how they can find someone in their state, then the best thing to do is to go online and find the [illegible] their State's prison system, or if you're looking for [illegible] security facility, the website for the county jail. In ALL cases, the information you're looking for, the inmate's name, DOC number and mailing address, will be listed on this site, and if not, then there will be a number of e-mail address that you can use to obtain more information. In many cases, you'll also be able to find additional details, such as when (s)he began serving their term, when they're currently scheduled to be released, what they've been convicted of, etc. Also, if they're a registered sex offender, you might be able to find out a current address from the Meghan's Law website, either federally or for the State you're searching.
Unfortunately, I don't know anyone by the name Shawn Queen. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything in a place like this. In here, we often choose not to use our real names, for a number of reasons, including an attempt to prevent people from using our past to hurt us. Should I come into contact with him, I'll be sure to let him know that you're looking for him, assuming that he knows someone with the e-mail address of "aphid765@gmail.com". Either way, good luck with your search.
On a related note, I find it difficult to believe that anyone with the name of "Shawn" is anything but an awesome person, but even assuming, for the sake of argument, that he was a "terrible" person 20-years ago, that was 20-YEARS AGO!! All it takes is a single event to inspire change, and going to prison for 20-years includes more inspiring events than I could possibly count, so I have no doubts whatsoever that he's not the same person his brother knew, and, for a wide variety of reasons, his brother might have known a side to him that no one else knew, which I'm sure goes for anyone, myself included. The sad fact of the matter is that most of what people say about us is based entirely on rumors and lies spread by people with an ax to grind, and somewhere along the lines, the rumors and lies turn into facts written in stone, and the more they're repeated, the more difficult it is to change people's lives, especially when there's the tiniest element of truth which can be twisted and distorted to form the basis for the lie.
At the end of the day, kudos to you for trying to find your friend, and let me know if it all works out.
