(3-14-2019, Thurs.) Hello to my friends, family, and prayer warriors. This is a mass email update on Chaplain Shreve's family. Forgive me if it seems impersonal. Good news so far.

Chaplain Shreve returned to work as scheduled on Sunday, four days ago. We were all so busy playing catch-up that we didn't have much down time beyond a few minutes to hear anything of detail. Yesterday was the first day we could really talk.

The surgeries for his preteen daughter went well. As expected the two weeks of recovery was a sleepless, painful, 24-hour a day focus. All endured well.

As hoped, there were some immediate improvements to her behavior. The disease of PANDAS/PANS trademarks of sleeplessness, OCD, outbursts, and emotional meltdowns improved dramatically. Mom and Dad both are getting the sleep and rest that they have missed for two years! Praise God! I could tell the difference in chaplain's attention, energy, and good humor.

The next phase is ten treatments over a 12-month time frame to completely rid his daughter of this disease. The disease, which causes swelling of the brain, is triggered with a case of strep infection. The strep then hides in the tonsils and adenoids. Thus the surgeries to remove most of the dormant strep infection. Why this disease impacts children with autism at a much higher rate than other children in the population or adults is yet unknown.

Thank you for praying with us through this. Let us all expect and believe in a complete recovery. Chaplain's family will certainly have a strong testimony to help other families to endure and succeed against this horrible disease.
