I often sit here
in the dark
staring out at the lights
dreaming that one day
I will somehow
find my way home
I stay up for hours
smoking Paul Mell's
listening to the cars
as they move past
my window patrolling
the prison's perimeter
their muffled sounds
fading into the night
with my dreams of hope
