Subject: Prison Suicide Watch

The recent addition on the Epstein prison suicide is missing a very important point.

I would imagine that the NY prison system is similar to Illinois in how business is conducted.

"Suicide watch" in prison is not to help. It is designed to PUNISH.

Frequently it is used to "correct" someone who is creating chaos for the staff. Drawing too much attention to how the prison is being operated. Someone who writes letters to senators, lawyers, the press or organizations like John Howard.

Take a concrete room with solid steel bunks or concrete slabs for beds. Now drop the temperature to 60 degrees. Often this temperature drops to 40 or 50 degrees in the cell since the temperature is balanced in the main area where the officers work. As the main doors are being opened all day long (or left open) so the AC system is running continuously.

Now imagine being stripped naked and left in the "suicide watch" cell 24/7. No clothes, no blankets or any linens, not even a towel.

No help for depression or anything is given.

Just left there to be tortured day after day.

In seven days, when the doctor enters and you're sitting there shivering uncontrollably, humiliated, degraded, angry... and the doctor asks, sarcastically, "So, are you still depressed? Are you thinking about hurting yourself?"

How would you answer?
