Big Fan Noise
10/1/19 I'm standing at the door this morning staring out the window looking into the dayroom. There's a large fan, 3 feet in diameter, just to the left. It seems to always be on blowing the air around the dayroom. The noise is always there pulling the wind through it like in a wind tunnel and pushing it out into the dayroom. IT gets loud and late at night and early in the morning when there are no other noises coming from the dayroom it sounds like the roar of a 747 jet engine taking off. Now I don't mind a little bit of noise. Even when it's quiet here there's always some kind of background noises, toilets flushing, someone coughing, someone blowing their nose, someone passing gas (hey, get a plug for that dude), then there's the soft sound of the vent slowly blowing out air. Now I don't mind the background noises - I don't even mind the big fan being on. Last night some fool ask the guard to shut the big fan off - bad idea - it's been on since last winter and everyone's gotten used to it, love us to sleep - last night there was no fan and no sleep - too damn quiet. Now this morning I'm standing here at my door tired - I guess what I'm trying to say is 'turn the damn fan back on...
