Hardships of the Mentally Ill

I am currently housed at Mule Creek State Prison and enrolled in an EOP program(Enhanced Out-Patient). It is a yard designated for inmates that are suffering from mental health issues. I was placed here due to my depression and anxiety.

Since my arrival on 4/23/2019, I've witnessed numerous assaults on the mentally ill by staff. Many of the staff purposely taunt mentally challenged inmates. One such incident was an officer made a statement toward several inmates as they were coming out of the chow hall saying, "Look even the seagulls are laughing at the inmates." The demeanor of staff towards inmates is poor. We have to endure their behaviors the only redress we have is appealing(602) an officer's behavior, but rarely is anything accomplished by filling a (602) against an officer. The ones that hear the appeals are officers(sergeants). And they always side with the staff.

Thanks for writing! I finished the transcription for your post.

Hmm. That is a very tough situation. But I know that things will get better. So don't you worry.
