Misconscrewed Advice
Many people look back and see that parents' advice to "see it through" was unnecessary and unhelpful. Doggedly persisting "to the bitter end" is not necessarily courageous or wise. Being willful is close-minded.
It should be obvious that it's happier to walk freely rather than with bloodied feet.
