TEXAS DENIES POPE ACCESS TO ATTEND EXECUTION AS SPIRITUAL ADVISOR

Death does not have the last word in Texas! I'm appalled as a cradle Catholic that my home state would deny Pope Francis the right to attend Ivan Cantu's execution as Chief Spiritual Advisor of the Holy Church.

As a native Texan, this embarrasses me to no end. We are a prideful state, the Texan way is not this way. The road to destruction is the wide path. The correct Path was the narrow path.

I reflect upon the recent writings of Pope Francis:

Plant in us, Lord,
seeds of solidarity,
so that, rejoicing in your gifts,
we may cherish your presences in
each other and all creation.
Root in us, Lord,
In compassion and justice.
Pour your spirit down like gentle rain,
softening our hearts,
washing away division and selfishness.

Cultivate in us, Lord,(?)
attentiveness to your call.(?)
Give us hope to dream of a better world(?)
and strength to play our part
to make it a reality.(?)

Grow in us, Lord,
Your ways of peace and courage,
so that in this time of Lent,
we may bear witness to your love,
revealed to us in Jesus.

AMEN.

Wish you all a blessed spring and summer fall year ahead. Pray for them, oh Lord, for they know not what they do.

In Solidarity,
