A Call To Arms
I should have written this a couple of weeks ago, but honestly, everytime I sat down to write or type something during that time, I have had Runners Club business to attend to. As a result, my blog has gone dry. Anyways, please read on because this is actually important.
About a year ago at this time, my mother was facing some really serious surgery. Thanks to the Catholic Community here at MCI-Norfolk, there was an endless amount of prayers sent her way. The surgery was a success and while Mom has a number of other medical issues going on, overall, she is doing a lot better. I'm completely convinced that all the prayers had a lot to do with that.
One of the people who spearheaded the charge of getting entire other Catholic Communities to pray for my mother, was a volunteer here named Shirley. Well, now Shirley is facing her own medical issues and I am calling on all my friends, family, and even anyone who may have accidently come across this post to help return the favor.
Shirley is a wonderful woman who teaches the RCIA class here every year and also leads the Tuesday night Scripture Study group that I am a part of. I made my confirmation here at MCI-Norfolk two years ago thanks to her. I won't go into too much detail, but basically Shirley is fighting colon cancer and some liver problems. She already had a fairly successful surgery, still faces radiation and a long battle ahead.
So, if you are someone who prays, please add Shirley to your list. If you are not someone who prays, this is the perfect excuse to start so do it anyway. Believe me, Shirley would do it for you and there are lots of guys here who need Shirley back so that she can help bring them closer to God. Thanks.
Until next time.....
