Reader.

Greetings! If you're taking the time to read this, I ask that you do so with an open mind. I can only hope that my words will in some way help you or somebody you know, somehow. I hope you also know that these words are my opinion of things. People and places... I don't know everything, and I don't claim to, so if you happen to have some advice for me, please feel free to share it with me.

Enough of all that. Let me get to my blog. There are often times that I question the way prisoners (myself included) are being treated by some of the guards. No, not all of them are like that, but due to too many of them being two-faced, I try to keep my distance from all of them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in any way condoning breaking the law, but don't we also have rights to keep them from treating us any way they want? I can't tell you how many officers I've heard say that they beat the hell out of this inmate or that. What if it was a family member of theirs getting beaten? Keep that in mind when you go to do something to somebody else. Don't do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Do unto others as you would have them do unto the person you hold dearest in your heart!

To be honest, I really don't think that would change the way some people treat one another. It's not been easy, and it's still hard at times, but I'm still here. What life has put before me and the way I've handled each situation, right or wrong, has helped to make me the man I am today. I don't know if this has ever been said before but I think when you realize that you will never be perfect, that is when you life your perfect life. Nobody can live our lives for us and we shouldn't live ours to please someone else. Do what you can to be happy today and the rest will fall in place.

Let me leave you with this: "You may not be happy with where you are at (prison?), but you can be happy with where you are at (inner self)!" Until the next time I write, take care. Laters.

Sincerely,
Eric. Z. Youngblood
