I appreciate your response. Thanks for sharing our campaign with your friends.
We are a group of socially and politically conscious incarcerated men at Sullivan Correctional Facility in Upstate New York. We have a group called Civic Duty Initiative (CDI). Besides the issue of Temporary Release, we are also working on strategies/solutions to combating youth/gang violence. We refuse to sit back and allow our young people to kill each other, destroy our communities and their own lives, without attempting to intervene.
There is an event taking place at Riverside Church in Harlem on Sept. 14, 2012. We will have a table there called "Second Look". This event will be dealing with mass incarceration, parole policies, and other issues dealing with incarceration. We encourage you to share this event with your friends. Keynote speakers will be: Angela Davis, Michelle Alexander, author of "Mass Incarceration: The New Jim Crow", Marc Lamont Hill, author of "The Classroom and the Cell", and others. We hope you will encourage others to attend.
