I Heart Tattoos!
By Jennifer Gann
When I was 16 years old, I got my first tattoo representing the neighborhood that I grew up in in West Orange County, California - Huntington Beach Hardcore (left). It was picked by hand between my left thumb and forefinger. Now it's a butterfly coverup tattoo.
In my youthful ignorance, I had a few white racist tattoos which are now cover-up tattoos of flowers and such.
Today I have about 30 different tattoos on different body parts, each of which represents some part of my life, personality, or political and spiritual viewpoints. The Black Flag symbol across my right knuckles (left), a 3D anarchy symbol above it on back of hand/ wrist, and boy and girl punk clown babies on my right forearm represent my punkrock years as a teenager in the 1980's.
The word "Revolution" is stenciled on back of my left forearm in big, white capital letters (black background) representing my own political consciousness.
Five flowers climb up the outside of my right leg, with a tribal vine extending all the way up through them. All of the flower tattoos on my arms and leg represent my divine femininity and Mother Earth.
Following are a few illustrations of some of my other tattoos. I love the artistic expression of tattoos, and plan to have many more tattoos adorn my skin.
I welcome your suggestions, feedback, and tattoo flash art you may want to share.
Be well, and smile. :)
