THE CREATIVE WRITER: Procrastinate? Me?

One thing I've always been bad at, is putting off for tomorrow what should've been done yesterday!

Here I am just days before my birthday -- October 4 -- and The Vampire Jennifer is still not posted... I wanted so bad to have her out breathing and running about the blogosphere by now, but... as you can see, she's not yet here.

She should be in the mail by October 2, though.

It's just hard to let her go, I've been working on her for so long, and trying to make her oh so perfect; and once she's posted I can't make any more corrections. She'll be set in digital stone, no more fixes or ooh this would be cool, I could add... Once posted, I'm done.

It has a finality to it.

And for a writer that's kinda sad, you work on something for so long it becomes part of you -- publishing it is in a sense not like its birth, but its leaving home to join the world. You no longer have control, it's its own thing. All you do then is watch it succeed, or fail.

On October 2, she'll leave Columbia, South Carolina to traverse the snail-mail-trail to Cambridge so that there among large hearted MIT volunteers of BTB -- like a loved girlfriend leaving for college -- she will, on October 4, arrive, be opened to the web for all to see, scrutinize, and hopefully enjoy. I wish her luck... and will no longer hold her back.

She screams at me every day to live, to be free and roam within the minds of readers, to have her world finally exist. A path that once set, many others like her will follow.
