Human Rights

Hello,

There is no human rights for most inmates. A few years back, without provocation or justification, the SORT team members, while screaming racial epithets at me, brutally beat and abused me. At the time of this beating, I was in a helpless position, being on my knees with my hands cuffed behind my back - with shackles around my ankles. In the course of this beating, the officers: kicked my feet out from under me, causing me to fall and injure myself on the corner of a metal bed frame; repeatedly punched me in my face; violently slammed my face into walls and into the floor; choked and partially smothered me by forcing my face down into a mattress to prevent me from being able to breathe; choked me by grabbing me around the neck and cutting off my air supply; and, while wearing heavy boots, repeatedly and violently kicked me in my ribs and lower back. Throughout this beating and abuse described, the SORT officers were screaming racial epithets at me, calling me a "n...", "boy", and other similar terms - while telling me they were going to kill me. This was done to me because they "assumed" I had useful information about another inmate, retaliation.

Retaliation is a deal breaker for human rights of inmates. They were directly and vicariously liable for all my injuries and damages they caused. This intentional infliction of emotional distress, outrageous conduct, and other acts and omissions of the prison agents and employees, described - got relief in the form of a SETTLEMENT.

However, my first violation of my human rights is still a nightmare - suffering from PTSD now. So, I ask you "WILL WE EVER OVERCOME?" - MLK
