Re: "Pro Bono" Assistance

Dear Attorney

My hopes are that you may be able to provide me with a bit of "pro bono" assistance with a civil matter I have filed in Suffolk Superior Court. Please see: Timothy J. Muise, pro se, v. Gary Roden, et al, No. #SUCV2011-00869.

This matter stems from retaliation perpetrated against me by the Department of Correction (DOC) due to complaints I made about abusive conditions of confinement. My complaints made national headlines with a four-piece series written by James Ridgeway from Mother Jones Magazine & Solitary Watch. Jim is a friend and has agreed to speak with you. I am also working hand-in-hnad with Just Detention International in addressing this abuse and their Deputy Director, Linda McFarlane, has also agreed to speak with you about the situation. You can contact her (). She will be able to shed quite a bit light on this situation.

My needs are assistance with teh next stage of litigationwhich I suspect will be a moton to dimsiss or in the alternative summary judgment by the DOC. I am unskilled in the area and trely need some assistance witht this phase. My belief is that this would require only a minimum of your time.

Attorney Paul Holtxman of Krokidas & bluestein will be filing an "Amicus Curiae" brief in this matter on behalf of the ACLU of Massachusetts. ACLU Director John Reinstein has come here to MCI Shirley twice to confer with me about this matter. I was John who enlisted the services of Attorney Holtzman, but these services are limited to the filing of the amicus curiae brief. Both John and Paul have agreed to speak with you about this matter and their involvement. John can be reached at. Paul at . I cannot urge you strongly enought to contact all the afore-mentioned individuals so that you can discover the novel and compelling nature of this matter.

I am contacting your office due to good things I have heard your civic concern. I am a former resident of Gloucester sho has worked extremely hard to transform my life in prison. I know tht time is always at a premium in your line of work but I would hope that you may help me. With a little bit of research, your interest may be sparked. Many public safety concerns will be affected by the outcome of my litigation. As I am sure you are aware the gang violence in the streets of our cities, children killing children (and others) for no reason, is a result of ineffectual tough on crime policies of the past. We must be able to cure these men held in our prisons as an integral aspect of ending the violence. If a prisoner cannot report abuse and work towards rehabilitation all will suffer. Please help me to address this dilema through my civil action.

Thank you so much for your time and anticipated serious consideration in assisting me. Please let me know if you will require further information from me.

Very sincerely yours,

Timothy J. Muise
