Bumps 1-20-13

It is impossible to tell by looking at a person how much faith they have. Compare your faith to a bucket of water; you only discover how much is inside when somebody bumps it. Likewise, when life bumps you, you spill out what you are full of. Maybe you took a financial hit in the last few years: bump! What spilled out, fear or faith? Maybe you or a loved one received bad news from the doctor and you're going for tests: bump! What splashed over the side? Dreading the worst or trusting God for the best? People can't tell how much faith you have by looking at you, but they can estimate by the words you speak. In life, bumps are impossible to avoid. You will be tested. And the purpose of these tests is not to see how invincible your faith is, but to refine your faith. As iron sharpens iron, so life's tests sharpen your faith. God doesn't test your faith to see how strong your faith is; He already knows! He tests your faith so you can know! Don't let the bumps of life break down your faith. Instead use these bumps as building blocks to build your faith beyond destruction. You're only as strong as your faith is. Prison taught me that!
