"Cool Female Guard Fired"

I have been at CMC for 4 yrs in March. This whole time I've been here I've only talked to 1 cool guard. Her name was, let's call her C/O Dor... She was very respectful, always helpful. She did her job but was fair to all inmates. She laughed out loud and was happy daily. She was considered an inmate lover by her peers. Her fellow staff never agreed with how she treated us like people not cattle. Word has it they fired her over some bullshit that she most likely didn't do. I'm sure the shot callers, people like a Lt or a warden made her the fall guy for someone else's mistake.

I just wanted to write and say that she was cool to me. She treated me kind and for that I miss her. If all the guards were like her prison wouldn't be so fucked up. See, the staff choose to make all of us miserable. They want us to do hard time. Here is the thing. The judge who sentenced us to prison punished us. The guards are not supposed to punish us, they are here to guard/count us, that's it. They think they are cops but they ain't. They got it in their thick heads to try and fuck with us.

They use the power of the state behind them to make life here hard to live. They come in our cells, take shit, disrespect our cells. It's all not cool. They think it's funny. I just wanted to write and say that in the 20 yrs I've been down she was the only cool guard I have ever spoken to. I try to never speak to staff. I feel that I'm being held hostage by them so why talk to your captors. This country is not what it used to be. They call it the land of the free.

Yea, right.

Come to California and get into trouble and see how they smile when they give a sentence so long for petty offenses that you wouldn't believe it.

Today is January 24th 2013. This out about 1 month ago I had groin surgery so a few days back I'm walking to pill line to get my meds. There is an area in this dump called the Plaza, well, I'm walking in the Plaza and the guards yell to get down, it's an alarm, well, this guard tells me to prone out on the ground. I explain about my groin surgery so he lets me lay on my side on the ground. While this is happening, some other guard yells from halfway across the Plaza, hey you, prone out on your stomach. Well, he runs over to me being a bully, saying when there is an alarm and the gun tower says to prone out, you better do so etc. I explain respectfully that I had surgery this month + the other guard who was still standing right there listening to all of this told me I could lay on my side. This asshole guard tells me, I pay for your medical, you do as I say or get a write up. Well, while this big mouth is talking shit to me, the alarm shuts off, it was a false alarm. I get up and as I walk off I say, whatever, asshole. This dickhead guard don't say anything. I then go get my meds and on my way back he is laying dead wait for me. He pulls me over, tells me put your hands on the wall. I tell him OK but don't touch my groin period, I just had surgery. He is all butt hurt, says to me, you called me an asshole, I'm going to write you up. You better prone out when they the guards tell you to.

I said look dude, the other guard allowed me to lay on my side and yes, you are an asshole, I said it and I meant it. He put handcuffs on me and put me in a stand up 1 man cage like a phone booth. Picture this, it's like 7.30am when he puts me in the cage. He leaves me in the cage for about 1 hr and it was cold, very cold out there. Finally this lame ass guard comes to the cage and says Tinsley, what all the fuck is your problem, do you want to go to the Hole. I say look, you guys in this Plaza are a bunch of pussies and if you don't like it, go get my jump suit and take me to the Hole. I was mad as hell. I just had groin surgery, still bleeding/pus and I tell him so but he just wants to be a bully. He couldn't believe that I called the guards who work in the Plaza pussies. Here is what this pussy did to me. He said I understand what you're going through but you need to understand my point of view. I just looked at him, said no more. He took the cuffs off, I went about my way. These are just some of the moves they pull. They are bullies. I'm smart enough to know this but I just had surgery so I won't lay out like that on the cold ass cement. See, every time something happens in the courts that helps CA prisoners, all the guards start acting like assholes towards us. I'll explain what ruling just come down from the courts.

To make a long story short, the prison system in California has an overcrowding problem. The medical treatment we get is so bad that 1 inmate dies every day due to it. So an inmate filed a lawsuit demanding to fix the medical and fix the overcrowding problem. Well, the federal judges, 3 panel judges, made an order that the Governor of California Jerry Brown to release prisoners till the amount of inmates is where it's supposed to be. The order says California Dept of Corrections has till June 27th 2013 to get its prison population down to, I think it's 110,000 inmates or the Feds will come in and take over all of the prisons and they will release the inmates. They will also change the amount of time we get for all crimes. So we want the Feds to come in and take over. The Governor Jerry Brown was on TV a few days back, he said he will not release any inmates out period, no matter what the Fed judges order says. Here is the thing, the Feds overrule the state so we can't wait to see what happens. I will keep everyone posted on what happens.
