I really respect your efforts to stay in touch with people outside the system. I'm a Canadian, 67 years old living with a younger woman and her 12 year old daughter.
I'm interested in the educational opportunities that are available to you there. What kind of courses are you taking / would like to take? My interests are wide-ranging so maybe we can find something that we can have fun talking about.
Thank you, Mr. Bryant, for your posting and for your work understanding some of the root causes of violent crime.
As a teacher, I often wonder how I can better serve students in my classroom who don't take personal responsibility for their choices. Is it best to focus on being a positive male role model generally or is there more specific advice you might give to us for the classroom?
Is there a reason you couldn't prove self-defense ? Could you have escaped without killing the Man ? Just wondering why you were charged with his murder .. Could you elaborate a little more about your case ?
I think you captured your reality. The poem needs stronger words in the first two sections. Maybe you could have the second section match the density of the final section in length.
Write more about the emotions that placed you where you now reside. Write about your childhood..good or bad. Did you grow up in CA?
Hey, Michael. It's hard for me - a devoted tea drinker - to choose a coffee poster, but I vote for the first one. And you asked what I'd do with $18? Well, I'd buy lots of tea !!

Digging your philosophizing. Please keep it coming.
I'm sure you've seen this old plum of a poem by Robert Frost, from 1916:
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
We can hear you, loud and clear. I get your point about the house of cards in the CA economy, sadly when the house falls down it will probably be the least powerful in society who get trapped under the rubble. Let's hope that right before the collapse people realize we're all in the same boat and have to pull together.
Keep up the detailed reports of what your life is like -- we're interested!
