It is really a shame that it's that hot in the quads. I cannot imagine living in the heat we have in PA without the benefit of air conditioning. The humidity plus the smell of so many people crammed together must be unbearable.

I do understand why the guards get air conditioning however. It is a pretty thankless job working as a prison guard, and I can only imagine the stress the correctional officers face on a daily basis. It would seem conditions would be much worse were they to not have a refuge from the heat, aggravation and general despondency that must come part and parcel with that job.

As to them getting their cars fixed, etc.... This does not seem like a bad thing to me. I am sure there are people in the system that appreciate the skills learned when they are finally allowed to leave, a skill would lessen the overall instances of recidivism, no?

Your appeal interests me. It is my understanding that first degree murder includes the planning of a murder, and your case would seem to be more of a crime of the moment type scenario. I suppose your actions afterwards, desecration of a corpse, grand theft auto, burglary, the list is quite long... Make the point somewhat moot however. You bemoan the waste of tax payer dollars, but wouldn't an appeal process be more of a waste of those same dollars... Which frankly could be better spent elsewhere?

My goodness, complaining about the cable not being free.... This seems to be an ongoing theme in many of your posts. When everyone on the outside is paying for cable (I know I certainly do, to the tune of about $180/month), I am at a loss as to why this should be an issue for you? No matter how you look at it, your life is at it's base level a "free ride" and has been for the large majority of your time on the planet.

I really do feel for your daughter though. I don't think the sins of the father should be visited upon their progeny, but I also do not think that a father is defined purely by supplying the genetic material to make a child. A father is able to be there for their children, and makes sacrifices in their own life to make sure that is a reality. Anything else is simply a delusional fantasy.

Well, I hope they day gets better for you. For me, I am off to the backyard to stand over a hot grill and cook dinner for the family. Ciao!

Hi James,

I'm one of the slackers you haven't heard from for some time but it's good to see you keep reaching out here regardless. From an Australian perspective, I don't know that American's are being seen as 'cowards'... a bunch of crazy people perhaps!

Your policies on gun control seem completely nuts when there are so many incidents of people losing their lives (our gun laws were restricted after our last mass shooting in 1996, where 35 people were gunned down & we haven't had another mass shooting since) we aren't able to license automatic weapons here at all (because why would you need an automatic weapon other than to kill a lot of people at one time) - one shot is enough to kill a kangaroo or a wild pig & they're the only legitimate reasons to have guns in this country. We don't have the attitude that we 'need a gun for protection' because no one else has one 'for protection', so why would the next guy (seems to make perfect sense outside of the US)

I'll agree respect is something that is lacking across the board (but perhaps that's just me getting older too).

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi because I haven't been around for some time. I hope all is going well. Take care James!

Hi Daniel,

It's been a while since I've been here to say hi (a long while!) I've moved cities, started working, (quit that job & am busy looking for another haha). & I'll be finishing my studies for the rest of the year (I've also taken on a double diploma course) but I just wanted to say hi. (HI!) I hope you're managing to keep your spirits up. I think of you often & will continue to stay in touch.

Take care Daniel

Your friend Nicki X

Hi Nate, I've been hanging around the site tonight (it's been a while!) & I had to come & say Hi :)

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you, and through this site, we do realise these incidents occur more regularly than we as a society should accept.

I guess prisons around the world do have various degrees of torture that occur in the name of punishment, and a blind eye is turned. In Australia I believe our prison guards are more accountable than American guards appear to be, still, unfair treatment occurs here too (it would be ignorant of me to think otherwise).

Our prison terms are not on par with your own, which is perhaps a saving grace for our population. We do not exclude people from voting when they're released from prison and I believe we have a much higher tolerance for giving people a second chance at life(perhaps that comes from growing out of a penal colony).

I'm sure your bones have healed, but the mental scars from such treatment will remain with you and I am sorry that you have to carry that pain with you. We as a society will be judged on how we treat each other and I agree, we should be ashamed of ourselves!

Take care Nate!

After living through so much tragedy, you share such incredible beauty Jeremy! Your words burrow deep into my heart and awaken so much in me. You touch me so deeply that I feel drawn to respond to you in a more heartfelt way than I communicate with anyone else in my life. You have a way of touching me like no one else does & I thank you for that!

I learned a long time ago (through my own personal near tragedy) to not commit myself 100% to any love, any goal, any situation or person, for the sheer danger of losing myself. So it's incredibly refreshing to read your words and see such complete commitment to life and all it has to offer, regardless of the consequences. I can't decide though, whether it is you that suffers more deeply by sacrificing your freedom for such a great part of your life, or if it is me who, by never throwing all caution to the wind and living entirely in the moment with complete commitment as you have time and time again. Sadly...(as a poor reflection on our society) I suspect it is me as when we're on our death beds I'll be saying I had a good life, but took the safe options while you, although you've done it incredibly tough (unimaginably tough!!), you have truly lived and experienced a passion for all things that I can only imagine from my safety zone.

I guess that's why I'm so drawn to your words

Take care my friend. My thoughts are with you. Nicki X

Hi Jeremy, it's been quite a while since I've contacted you & I realised today that I MISS YOU. Thankfully I can always find you here. :)

As you know, I appreciate these links that you share. Although always incredibly troubling in their content, it's great to see an extension of your words to give further insight into your plight.

As I was reading the 'enough is enough' article just now, I was thinking again about how incredibly difficult the issue of mental health in prisons is to address (although I acknowledge of course these articles state collectively that there IS no addressing of the problem at ADX). I realise of course that solitary confinement exacerbates the negative effects of mental health, but the problem is compounded further as Even IF adequate mental health treatment was available in prisons, if there were enough Psychologists available and funded to take care of all who needed their services while incarcerated, the nature of the environment would render a lot of that help ineffective anyway. A prison is not a place that can physically provide sufficient healing, by its very nature, the prison environment is a major contributor to mental health. As someone who likes to search for solutions I find your situation overwhelming and your strength to not only face it, but do all you can to change it - gives you my full admiration. I believe I have told you this before, but we can all do with reminders from time to time.

I can feel your strength Jeremy, you're certainly one of the people I most admire & find inspiration in!

Take care. I will write again soon

Nicki

"those who believe fear neither harm nor injustice" sura 72:13
"God has allowed it to look like Jesus died on the cross, but He certainly did not" sura 4:157

there is no need for me to quote scripture
i did not have to conform, i do not need to resist my thoughts in order to obey.
that is the purest form.
lol

it just came naturally.
remember i did not read the bible until i was 30. i already had plenty of time to make mistakes.. drink alcohol, get tattoo, or any of the million things scripture says Masters cannot do.

i barely pass.. but naturally. if you know the test and know the answer.. but only mimic the action.. it is not of the heart.
that is fraud.

seeing what true mercy is.
"God has concluded ALL in unbelief" Romans 11:32 "so that He may have mercy on ALL" equally

guilty of one sin, guilty of all.
that is why busybodies get same punishment as murderers.. they commit their soul to their victims 1 Peter 4:19

there is no need for me to interpret or wrestle with the word. it seems impossible for anyone to comprehend actually being shown visions. they read about them in the bible

but anyone saying they know for a fact the earth will soon implode is compared to chicken little.

the scriptures say clearly a comforter will come first.. will show what is written.. not speak of himself.
"with the shout of Arkangel THEN you see Jesus coming back" 1 Thes 4:16.. what comes first?
where is the shout? from earth.. you hear a shout then see His return.

best verse ever:
Phil 2:3 'treat others AS IF they are better than you'
too bad everyone doesnt do that.
and finally.. yes i know how to eat from the center of the crop.

first you must know the number to know the center.. Micah is one of the center books.
and just like Abrah becomes Abraham and Jonah becomes Jonathan.. Micah is Michael.

NT has 27 epistles
260 chapters
7959 verses
181,253 words
383,380 letters

eat the word
"doctrine is bread" Matt 16:8
and as you mention the strong meat of the word is what sheeple should be eating
but they still drink milk like babies
"babes in christ"
"milk of the word" 1 Peter 2:2

connecting the dots is not important
if you come to a door.. having the keys is nice.
we do not make the doors or opportunity
and the illusion of freewill choice is more duality circle jerk nonsense

nothing goes against god
god has never lost one inch.
one battle.
lost nothing.

everything is purely god's will
nothing is outside of god
god is omnipresent. if sin existed anywhere.. god would be there.
god is not absent from anywhere.. seen or unseen.
