"Huevos Verdes con Jamon" is one of my favorite books - really fun to read in Spanish.

Stay positive! You have a lot to give. If more people speak out about mental illness, hopefully the way society views it will change over time.

I really enjoyed reading this post. You write beautiful, thought provoking pieces. I've found since going to University I now think about many things on a deeper level than I ever did before. I Don't think It's necessarily a bad thing.

I've done a number of classes in Australian Indigenous studies and am driving taxis while I'm studying. A number of other drivers I speak to throughout the day have negative opinions surrounding the behavior of some of these people (our passengers) but if they're acting up for me, I tend to consider the history of Australian colonization by the English and all of the policies that have governed the lives of these people since that time... And still do... And with this knowledge (which hasn't been taught in our schools until very recently) I view them very differently and with much more tolerance than many of my colleagues do. I think having an extended knowledge base enriches my experiences too.
Our knowledge increases our understanding and that has to have many benifits. Perhaps you could sleep more (or meditate) to Defrag :)

Thank you for sharing (and for the mental image of the Wizard wearing blue [connies] converse under his robes! Haha)

Take care. Nicki

Your friend Tom -- the one who was always running a con. Didn't he have a girlfriend from Texas who'd visit him every now and then? How come she didn't get caught up in that helicopter escape deal?

I've been thinking this afternoon about how very different people's individual perspectives must be of their interaction on this site. Your window is unfortunately very narrow and you only know of what you post, and only see the comments left for you. My perspective is much more colorful as I can see posts from all bloggers, and the comments left for them, and often times, very similar messages are conveyed on both sides.

It saddens me that, because of the negative comments that you seem to overwhelmingly attract, your experience here may be very different to many of us. Yet that hasn't deterred you from blogging. Which is encouraging.

I was also thinking that if you and your fellow prisoners could see each others blogs and become more aware of each others inner-most thoughts, learn of each others hopes & dreams (for themselves & their loved ones), I think you would all realize you had more in common than what may be obvious in that environment.

It's a shame that you don't get the full experience from this site as we do. I think just to see your own thoughts reflected in others in your situation, could serve as an important moral support.

I often read about how you are required to act within that environment is very different to the people each of you really are, or want to be. I would love it if you could all begin to know each other, as we have come to know you here. But sadly I know that's not the reality. The masks you're required to wear there will keep your perspectives of each other worlds apart from ours.
