Prisoner's Medical Co-Payment

The Texas Prisoner's $100 Co-Payment Policy for Medical Should be Repealed Immediately

In 2011, the Texas Legislation adopted an insidious scheme designed to place the burden on the backs of our families and friends in order to help generate revenues to keep the state's bloated prison system afloat. Because Texas prisoners are not paid for work done, this co-pay policy is effectively a "second-taxation" (AKA "double taxation") on our loved ones. No charge should be assessed for any health care services provided to someone confined in the TACJ, or any prison. That is the responsibility of the state government. This co-pay policy has and shall continue to force many prisoners to skip visiting the medical department in order to protect the few funds family and friends send them.

This policy should be repealed immediately. More about this co-pay policy can be found at: www.geitsforbreakfast.blogspot.com
