If it wasn't for this box called TV, then my prison time would be a lil' harder. For as much as the TV keeps me glued to it, it's a distraction that's welcomed, albeit minimally.

I try to limit myself on how much I watch, however when you see a new iPhone, car or any other gadget for this matter you can't help but look and listen. Here in prison, we're given only a certain amount of channels. Besides the free network stations we get we also have 4 Christian channels. Why it's 4 religious channels is beyond me. Anywho, I won't venture to say that all the shows on TV are bullshit but the majority are just dumb. I tried (unsuccessfully) to get some educational channels as PBS, Discovery, History etc, but the prisoncrats don't deem us worthy of such expense. They don't mind us watching shows as Survivor, Hell's Kitchen and other ones but won't pay a small amount of funds to provide us with educational channels which will teach us good things instead of negative ones. As much as I distaste TV due to its contents... I love it for giving me a glimpse of the outside world. Local news stations end up covering a story in the community I came from. I see how it's improved or deteriorated. I see the new 'fashions' and 'trends', how technology in cars has improved. I see other worlds and cultures as when a new pope was elected yesterday. I see nature when watching shows like "Wild America". I see conflicts and wars as in Syria, Mali, N/S Korea, which let me know the world's still not "fine". Not to be a sexist or pervert but I see women and TV is saturated with sexualization. Documentaries are a plus when they do get showed. I take into account a lot of what I see due to the simple fact that even though it's in my "back yard", it's literally out of my hands.

[line of text missing] to me. What's the message it's trying to convey? Is this true or false? For my trashing of TV it's a part of life that we humans CAN live without, but it wouldn't be as fun, now would it...? Like cellphones and refrigerators, they're here to stay for the long run. Who controls it (TV) is a whole different matter. For the meantime I'm fulfilled with the images electromagnetic waves bring to me.
