A CERTAIN FRIENDSHIP
X-Ray Robinson July 2011

IN A PLACE WHERE LOVE IS NOT ALLOWED
HERE KINDNESS GETS A SWIFT DISMISS
ROWS OF LONELINESS ARE PLANTED AND PLOWED
HOW WILL I SHARE THE LOVE I VOWED?

MY HEART ALWAYS SORROW WEEPING RAIN
KNOWING THAT A FORBIDDEN TOUCH WOULD STOP THE PAIN
BUT THEN ALL WOULD SEE LOVES CARING STAIN
AND SURELY INSIST THAT COMPASSION BE RESTRAINED

NEVER HAD TO BREATH WITHOUT KINSHIP
NEVER DWELLED AMONG THE MASSES WITHOUT A CERTAIN FRIENDSHIP
THE MASK, THE COVER, THE HIDDEN NEED
REPRESSED SO LONG IT LEAKS AS GREED

EVEN SADNESS SINGS THE LOVE SONG
OF CODED LYRICS FROM ANGRY POUTING LIPS
AS DESTINY PLEADS DESPERATE
FOR THAT SACRED CERTAIN FRIENDSHIP

PASSING IN SLOW MOTION
WHISPERS HAVE WISHES
OF DEEP INVITATIONS,
REQUESTING CHEEK KISSES

LIKE DESERT FLOWERS BOLDLY EQUIPPED
I'LL BURST INTO GRAND BLOOM
WITH ONE RAINDROP
FROM THAT CERTAIN FRIENDSHIP
