The Punishment

by Timothy J. Muise

My children have grown without me.
My father and brother have died.
My nephew got cancer at 22.
He is buried next to Bobby and Dad.
My wife is dead at 47 years.
In my cell is where I shed tears.
My mother has aged and I am not there.
Again alone I shed that cold tear.
This is the punishment.
