JT, thanks for your comment. Sorry it took so long to respond but sometimes things just get in the way dealing with the state. This time it took 2 weeks for them to replace the typewriter tape and I have to contend with about 50 other people for time. I'm grateful for your patience.

If TM turned around and jumped on Zimmerman first, this goes to show how important it is to have someone on the jury who understands the position this young brother was in and how he thought. I'm originally from N.Y. If someone is following you it could be to your peril to wait to act. I'm certainly not familiar with FL. law but in N.Y. there used to be a time when if an officer shot someone that "suspect" better have a gun on him or, at the very least, that officer lost his job. So it was normal for them to carry a "throw gun" to put on him. Now all they have to do is say "he moved, I thought he was going for a gun." Up in Hartford, CT an officer told a 14 year old to freeze. He put his hands up but when he turned his head around to see who was talking to him the cop shot him in the back. This young kid lost his life for doing something that is instinctive. Most people don't know this unless they are put in that position.

Have you ever watched the show COPS? Check out any suspect. He'll either look, run or do both. Guilty or not. I'd like to read other cases of stand your ground to see how judges ruled and in what circumstances. Did others have to wait to be assaulted before they shot someone? How did the officers charge people? What did other juries think? How did they vote. What were the thoughts of the prosecutors?

Your comments gave me a lot to think about. Thanks, JT.

Rick
