Dear Rita,

Howdy!

I didn't know that bruges was the same as brujas. I'm familiar with the word bruja. There are many Spanish speaking people in the US and a whole lot in prison. I'm not fluent in Spanish, but I can manage it—I suppose I'm intermediate. I've had cellies who only spoke Spanish before.

I am familiar with the burning of witches. Some estimates claim that six million people died—mainly women who were accused by the Catholic church of being witches. Those were my people! I'm Wiccan.

That's one reason why I'm not Christian—because of the judgmental attitude and terrible way that many "Christians" treat each other. That is not at all what Jesus taught, but many people (not all) who claim to be Christian distort his teachings. I am SO GLAD that Pope Francis has taught differently and seems to be a wonderful person.

I am all about the power of femininity, although I'm not into reading about it. I hope Hillary Clinton becomes our next president and I supported her the last time she ran. There should be more women as CEOs and in government.

I'm not familiar with Oscho. He sounds interesting.

I didn't receive the letter you mentioned, but I've received others since then and I got one in the mail recently. I'll be writing again soon!

They mention St. Nicholas in the US, but I wasn't familiar with your tradition. I find the traditions in other countries really interesting.

My Thanksgiving was okay. I don't make too much of holidays in prison. It's too depressing. My heart is turning black, really.

Many hugs,
Kelly
