You are very correct in stating that the press was pretty bad and that alternative press did do a much better job at covering the events. However, seeing that we (prisoners) are fighting against the injustice system, the same system that is aligned with the media, can we expect anything contrary than a one-sided story?

We prisoners are grateful for all of the support we receive from organizations and people. Lawsuits can help alleviate pressure, but that's it. All lawsuits are is a pressure valve. If lawsuits would of done away with the abuse, then prisons should've been in tip-top shape a long time ago. As for the new programs being pushed forward to invalidate people, that's a joke. CDCR is enacting a new draconian system in which it will not only be able to validate you easier but make it much harder to get out of solitary confinement.

That's just the thing: prison officials are NOT validating people for crimes or gang acts, but for associating with each other! It doesn't stop here though. Prisoners are being validated for associating with our respective cultures: Aztec literature, Black Panthers, or revolutionary literature that CDCR finds "a threat" to institutional safety. It's the same thing that they did in Arizona with no culture classes of Latinos. When you take people's culture, you are for all purposes liquidating them from the earth.

Citizens are responsible, but the citizens of this country are fine with just sitting back and being onlookers to the tumult and oppression. Have you ever asked why this society likes to throw away the key when they lock people up? The cost of prisoners is staggering and people won't wish to pay for it. However, police, correctional officers, police unions, and other "law enforcement" that will lose due to a few prisons, prisoners and crime will not go for it.

I admire that people like yourself want to see progressive change. In view of it all, look beyond the reforms and look for a real solution. The system won't to change its way nor will it dissolve itself.

Kindly,
Bobby
