The Freedom
by Timothy J. Muise

The Freedom to decide for yourself,
precious beyond recognition.

The Freedom to freely choose your friends,
never appreciated fully.

The Freedom to bury your loved ones,
something you may not realize.

The Freedom to care for your sick,
who would have ever thought?

The Freedom to say "no",
worth more than gold.

The Freedom to dress how you please,
don't take it for granted.

The Freedom to bathe in privacy,
such dignity.

The Freedom to make a nice meal,
almost forgotten now.

The Freedom to choose a doctor,
your life could depend on it.

The freedom to roam in the rain,
or dance in the sun,
or swim in the lake,
or lay in the field,
or hold a child's hand,
or sing with a date,
or pat a cute puppy,
or just sit on a park bench.

No punishment is greater than
the loss of freedom.

No desire is greater than
the one for freedom.

I seek THE FREEDOM!
